JOB DESCRIPTION

Lead and execute development work within the Body & Exterior Engineering team for new materials and new technology implementation for premium and luxury vehicles
Lightweight product development with application focus on Body in White, Closures and Exterior and on overall vehicle
Application of diverse lightweight materials and technologies on vehicle program to fulfil performance, weight and cost targets
Documentation and presentation of project work
Perform detailed vehicle benchmark analysis
Lead lightweight concept work and weight reduction proposal definition on overall vehicle
Definition of weight target(s) on vehicle, system and component level
Actively manage the weight attribute for overall vehicle by working together with all development teams
Documentation and presentation of weight status
Lead cross functional communication and work in all aspects and escalate challenges early to define robust solution with highest quality
Define lessons learned and design guidelines
Ensure that learnings out of benchmark analysis are embedded in processes, guidelines and innovation
Develop and define future material strategy acc. to vehicle development plan within the engineering team.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

5 + years of structures and body systems knowledge
Professional knowledge and experience of lightweight technology in vehicle engineering
Experience of development projects with applying light metals and composites in body, closures and Exterior
Detailed experience in developing multi material body structures with experience of Aluminium, composite and steel body & Closures systems
Have experience of current BIW methods and requirements with ideally cradle to grave projects to demonstrate
Knowledge of new body technology and new technical developments in this domain (joining, bonding, painting etc)
Pro-active and must have innovative ideas and push the boundaries.
Knowledge on High Pressure Die Cast (HPDC) part design and development
Practical and theoretical knowledge of product development, manufacturing, geometry and design area
Solid knowledge of CATIA V5 to assess 3D data for concept definition
Tooling knowledge
Crash knowledge
Weight management
