Position Title: Senior Project Manager - Body Structures

Duration: Contract

Location: Shalford, Surrey

Essential Criteria:

  • 10 years new model launch experience within the automotive industry managing engineers to delivery of engineering releases - prototype and production
  • Exceptionally high level of technical capability.
  • Familiarity with the majority of body structure construction methods, including metals, plastics, composites. Multiple component manufacturing techniques casting, pressing, extrusion, joining and fastening methods, surface treatments, curing processes.
  • Direct experience of design engineering and delivery of engineering releases
  • Experience of technical supplier management, including liaison at senior levels with vendors
  • Excellent communication written and spoken

Nice to Have Criteria:

  • Education to Degree level preferred
  • Engineering and/or development experience of electric vehicles
  • Ability to drive design decisions
  • Understanding of detailed design drawings in accordance with BS 8888, including geometric tolerancing.
  • Great attention to detail and an attitude to produce 'right first time' quality work
  • Good understanding of mechanical design requirements for typical automotive applications e.g. fastening systems, sealing solutions, manufacturing techniques.
  • Ability to understand and interpret CAE data and reports and suggest suitable ideas to provide alternative design solution based on results
  • Understanding of DFMEA and risk assessment techniques in automotive environment
  • PC literate and at ease with MS Office products
  • Experience of Aluminium body design

Additional Information:

  • Manage supplier commodities, timing, DFM, pressings, NVH packs (pads, baffles)
  • Responsible for leading overall delivery (cost, timing, quality) of body structure systems and exterior body
  • components for low volume programs.
  • Responsible for technical delivery of body systems to achieve high levels of performance in all necessary aspects
  • Responsible for manufacturing engineering definition of body assembly processes to ensure efficient build processes
  • Plan and manage UK based prototype body build (in conjunction with Vehicle Engineering) to support program execution.
  • Manage the DFMEA and support the PFMEA for body structures and exteriors on programs
  • Manage the DVP process for body structures on programs
