Job description

Position Title: Project Manager - Body Structures

Duration: Contract

Location: Shalford, Surrey

Essential Criteria:

  • 3 years new model launch experience within the automotive industry, managing engineers to delivery of engineering releases
  • Good level of technical capability.
  • Familiarity with body structure construction methods and materials, including metals, plastics.
  • Awareness of component manufacturing techniques casting, pressing, extrusion, joining and fastening methods.
  • Experience of design engineering and delivery of engineering releases
  • Experience of supplier management
  • Excellent communication written and spoken

Nice to Have Criteria:

  • Education to Degree level preferred
  • Engineering and/or development experience of electric vehicles
  • Ability to lead design decisions and issues resolution
  • Great attention to detail and an attitude to produce 'right first time' quality work
  • Good understanding of mechanical design requirements for typical automotive applications e.g. fastening systems, sealing solutions, manufacturing techniques.
  • Understanding of DFMEA and risk assessment techniques in automotive environment
  • PC literate and at ease with MS Office products
  • Experience of Aluminium body design

Additional Information:

  • Manage supplier commodities, timing, DFM, pressings, NVH packs (pads, baffles)
  • Execute Program Management and Planning work within the Clients' business, technical and Industrial areas of vehicle programs, which covers all aspects of the business.
  • Competence in all aspects of Program Management, within an existing Automotive OEM.
  • Have a strong teamwork and cooperative work ethic with other associated partners.
  • When necessary be a representative of Program Management within the overall team.
  • Act from the Program Management perspective together with colleagues in the Technical/Industrial areas to secure all related activities.
  • Be responsible for related work, in preparing and executing of Milestone Management (NPDS and associated processes).
  • Act appropriately from a Program Management perspective in all aspects of R&D governance within the Client.
  • Support appropriate KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) are achieved.
